Montgomery, Ohio is one of the oldest settlements in Hamilton County. It began as a coach stop for travelers riding along the Cincinnati-Zanesville Road (later known as the Montgomery Pike) after the first settlers arrived in 1796. The Cincinnati-Zanesville Road offered travelers only an inn and two taverns. Montgomery remained a small agricultural settlement, with a grist mill an carding mill, outside of the city until the 1960s when it became a commuter town as more people were looking for residential towns to settle in the Cincinnati area for work.
